Memory in Australia Working Holiday – Araluen Park

Near the farm I worked, there is a park, sometimes there were some festivals. Every time I came back from city, I thought I should pay a visit there one day.

At last day I stayed in the place, I decided walked there. I thought it’s not far from the farm I stay, but I’m wrong, walked about 2 hours, and I still don’t know how far it is. Luckily, a gentleman at age around 60, with his Harley, offer me a ride. Wow~my first Harley experience. Took another 10 minutes to a corner prior that park, save my legs.

The admission is quite expansive, forgot how much it is, but all I remember is EXPANSIVE. Anyway, I got one and although it’s not worth but the park is a really lovely place.

And, by the way, I walked back without any ride.....and yes, the road ascend.

Memory in Australia Working Holiday – Wave Rock

At second weekend, Pauline plans a trip to Wave Rock, a place famous with a huge rock looks like wave. Of course I am excited, it sounds amazing and we will hire a van, that’s first time I can drive in Australia.

She finds a lot of people to join us, most of them are Taiwaness and some Japaness.

This is our car, it’s first time I drive in Australia and you know the wheel is on right side. I am nervous…..

On the way, you can find such beautiful field every where, don’t know what kind of flower is it. Every thing on the road is suprise to us at first, we are excited when we see flowers, sheeps, farms…….but 30 minutes pass…..what we have is “oh..another farm…..”, “hmm…this field is smaller than the other one….”

P8190131

Car park of wave rock, it takes us about 3~4 hours, and only a few small towns on the way.

That’s our lunch, looks good. After a long drive, nothing is better than a delicious meal.

IMGP8205

That’s THE WAVE ROCK, you see it, and you can go home now, take some pictures, look around, and that’s all.

RIMG1474

Ok, everyone has to take a picture like this, so do I.

RIMG1466

People start to feel bored, rest on the WAVE.

RIMG1498

Climb on top of the WAVE, you can see far far far away, because there is nothing around this area.

RIMG1514

RIMG1526

Over view from the top of WAVE.

There is another rock nearby, it looks like a yawning hippo, cute.

RIMG1536

She trys to not eaten by the hippo…..

RIMG1544

Ok….the trip is over, it’s time to go home……yes, 4 hours drive, less than 1 hour stay, and another 4 hours drive is waiting for us……

So crazy driver lost her patience…..HAHA…we could never drive that fast in Taiwan…..

RIMG1574

People Perth is beautiful at night, since we hire a car already, there is no reason to waste our money, so we drive to South Perth. It’s really amazing.

P8190261

And we go to Kings Park, it’s cold up there, but the view is great

P8190291

P8190285

This is a memorial for whom killed in war, the flame is called “Flame of Remembrance”. And the name of death is on the obelisk.RIMG1616

The conclusion, Wave Rock is a boring place, if you are droping by, that’s all right, but if you drive 8 hours to and back, it’s stupid…………

Memory in Australia Working Holiday – Random walk in Perth

Perth is a beautiful city, big enough to fulfuill your shopping desire and small enough to make you enjoy a peaceful relax country life. I fall in love with Perth at first few days been here.

It’s east perth, rich man stays here…..

RIMG1420

Canoe on the river

RIMG1432

I like this slogan, especially “Just ridiculous”, I thought only Taiwaness uses such funny slogan like “The boss isn’t at home”, “The boss is crazy”…..

RIMG1440

Every great city has a beautiful river, Swam River is the best river in Australia.

RIMG1448

Bridge in Kings Park, it has great view there.

Memory in Australia Working Holiday - Victoria Park and Casino(2008-08-12)

Since last time to Fremantle, me, Paula, Pauline and Lai are play mate now, this weekend, we are going to picnic in Victoria Park with Pauline's house mates, 2 Korean guys and one Taiwaness girl.

There is one funny thing when we are in bus station, we ask service counter how to go to Victoria Park, an officer ask us where are we going in Victoria Park, what are we doing there? We feel strange, Why do we have to tell him what are we doing there and what does he think people will do in a park? Anyway we couldn't get an answer, officer just give us a direction and we have to find out by ourselves.

One day in the future, we finally realize why do him ask those questions, Victoria Park is not a park, it's a name of a suburb. All right, in Taiwna, we never call a place "park" if it's not a park and I think neither does Korean, because they don't understand why the officer says that either.

At least we find a park beside Swam River, although we spand more than 30 minutes to find it. Although we went pass it and never thought about it would be the place we want to go. But we are there at least.

Before we go, in front of Pauline's share with her house mates.

That's the park in Victoria Park beside Swam River, actually, it's a belt of green area along Swam River, families have BBQ, kids play around here.

Swam River, pelicans swim causually, in Taiwan, we can see pelicans in zoo only, so I'm excited to see so many pelicans.

Let's begin picnic, we prepare sandwich, salad and lots of food.

After picnic, we play some games like kids, games we haven't played for a long time. It's funny, remind me my childhood.

Climb on the tree, nice shot, isn't it?

A crazy dad think it's fun and give his daughter to Rebecca on the tree. The crazy family...........

The lovely kid try to steal our drink.
I like these two trees

An art work of train, we pretend we are on the train.
Someone made a heart with petals, lovely.
The building behind us is InterCity Hotel, and casino is just beside it. After picnic, we visit the casino, it's my first time being in a casino, gambling is illegal in Taiwan. I win $20 this time, not bad.

Memory in Australia Working Holiday - Fremantle day trip

My friend Pauline went to Australia 1 or 2 months earlier than me. When I went to Australia, she is the best guide for me. The first weekend I was in Australia, she invited me to Fremantle. And she told me that there are two people she met at English class in my hostel, I could ask them go with us, that's how I know Paula and Lai.
All right,it's time to go.....................

In front of Perth Station, I like Perth Station,it's a beautiful, small and clean station and you can take train to every where around Perth.

This is first time I take train in Perth, Australia.
And of course it becomes one of the most important landmarks in my memory in Australia.

Inside Perth Station, at platform 7, waiting for train to Fremantle, and picture time!!!!!
From left to right, me, Paula,Pauline and Lai. Not many people in train station, where do all the people go at weekend? No shops open, no people in train station.

Fremantle Station, picture is not good, but the weather is fucking good.

One thing you have to do in Australia is buying a soft serve in Hungry Jack. Only 40 cents,10 cents cheaper than McDonald's(but the price rises now....*sigh* ), full of milk, best friend under hot weather. I fall in love with soft serve after then, and buy one every 2 or 3 days....

We are in jail....,those prison dolls are cute,I should buy one as gift but I didn't *sigh*.

Prison Break......5 stupid Taiwaness try to climb on the gate. The girl on the left is a new friend we met here.

Fremantle prison, looks like a castle with great view, better than most hostel, why prisoner could have such a good place to stay?

A beautiful building, Wesleyan church, a lovely church just stand beside the road.

Oh...Kangaroo!!!On the way back, we went to Subiaco, and in Woolworth, we found this. We were excited, never try this before. We bought one. Kangaroo!!! We are coming!!!!

That's our dinner, on the bottom is Taiwanese style fried kangaroo, we don't know how to cook kangaroo, so our chef said it looks like beef, just cook it as beef..........girls said it's not good with some strange taste, but I think it's nice although we didn't cook it well.

After dinner, we went to swam river, and this is swam bell, a landmark of Perth, it will play music on clock. You can also get in it but it costs about 20 dollars, I don't want spend 20 dollars for this. Someone said first Tuesday or so every month, you can get in free, I am not sure and never try.

Here is a video we recorded in Fremantel, a street performer sing opera, she is really good, and sometimes I saw her perform in Perth City.
